Srinagar, May 08 (KNO) : Expressing concern over the Kashmiri political prisoners in different state and outside jails, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has stressed on an unconditional release of all such prisoners on the basis that nothing has been proved against them even after long incarcerations and questioning and trials. The party as per a statement issued to KNO also expressed concern over the arrest of many more pro-freedom activists including Mushtaq Ahmad of Ganderbal district. JKDFP demanded that Kashmiri prisoners should be treated as political prisoners and must be granted all those rights which are in the jail manual and are recommended by the international forums dealing with political prisoners. “One of the rights of such prisoners is their lodgment in the nearest jails so that their close relatives can meet them whenever they like,” the amalgam said. The JKDFP spokesperson said that Kashmiri prisoners are facing harsh attitude of the jail authorities on one hand and on the other, these political prisoners are not heard in the judiciary, which has worsened their situation beyond words. He hailed the steadfastness and dedication of its incarcerated chairman, Shabir Shah and all other Kashmiri prisoners who are the victims of political vendetta. He said that long incarcerations cannot break the will and resolve of Shabir Shah and other resistance leaders who advocate the right to self determination for the people of Jammu Kashmir.(KNO)
